The Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the healthcare regulator in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, as part of the department’s participation in GITEX Technology Week 2021, which aims to develop and implement a sustainable and future-ready healthcare system in the emirate.
This comes within the framework of developing the digital health strategy in Abu Dhabi, and improving the patient experience and healthcare model inside and outside the emirate.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Jamal Muhammad Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and Muhammad Ezz El Din, Regional Director for the Gulf Region at Novartis, and in the presence of Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Hamed, Head of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and Georg Schroukenvix, Regional Director for the Gulf and Saudi Arabia of Novartis, This is for the purpose of developing joint frameworks for cooperation and coordination between the two parties and the department’s digital health strategy.
Novartis efforts will focus on supporting the department’s ten-year vision and aspirations, by contributing to the planning, launching, implementing, and managing of digital healthcare solutions.
This strategic cooperation will focus on finding solutions to health sector challenges such as chronic and non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases and many more by enabling data-driven health interventions and supporting digital transformation in the emirate and beyond.
The cooperation will also attach importance to advanced health analytics, research platforms, real-world evidence, artificial intelligence, and innovative digital solutions for remote patient follow-up, which fall under the umbrella of the department’s digital health strategy.
Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said: “The Emirate of Abu Dhabi continues to work to improve the healthcare sector in the emirate and ensure the health and safety of community members, through the development of innovative digital policies and effective healthcare models.
In turn, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi is working with its partners in the health sector to design a future-ready healthcare system based on the latest technologies and artificial intelligence innovations, as part of its efforts to achieve the desired digital transformation.”
He stressed that the department’s participation in the GITEX Technology Week stems from the pivotal role it plays in strengthening the healthcare system in the emirate and improving the lives of all members of society.
During its participation in the exhibition, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi will showcase its latest innovations in healthcare, highlighting the efforts and capabilities of the healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi.
